stippling

Over the last year or so I've been trying to learn as many stitches as I could from various places. Mostly from Leah Day's Free Motion Quilting Project. I have a bin that I put all my test squares or rectangles in so that I can refer to them.

One stitch that she really didn't cover in that project was simply stippling. Sounds easy enough, however, I was nervous to try it on an actual quilt. I anticipated getting myself into a corner not being able to get out. Then she started her Quilt Along. You'll see that that was the first thing she talked about. OK, I figured I could try it. OK, you'll notice the white fabric is me trying stippling. LOL. I got myself stuck and decided to just doodle. Not exactly sure what it turned into, but I guess that is why they call it practicing right?

So now I have this really quick and easy baby quilt that I have to do. I wanted something that I could quilt really quick. I decided to try this stitch again. How hard can it be? I see so many quilters using it. I figured I could do it as well.

not too bad

I have to admit the quilt is moving along pretty quick. I've only backed myself in a corner once. :)

nice little projects

Ebay . . .

It's a wonderful thing. OK, sometimes. I'm not sure if it's just that it's fun when I see it say I've won. Now we all know I didn't actually win anything. If that were the case I wouldn't have to get my credit card out, right? Either way it's rather addicting. Actually buying fabric is addicting, "winning" it on ebay is just another way to get my fix.

So imagine how excited I was to learn that I could get charm packs of Moda's Comma for only $3.75. I was so excited. I figured I would be a big spender and get two of them. Imagine my surprise when I got them in the mail and realized that I had purchased two "mini" packs. I really couldn't be upset, I obviously was blinded by the price and didn't actually read the details. That and the fact that they were so cute.

Wonky Flower Wall Hanging

I loved the way my Modern Christmas Tree wall hanging came out and I wanted to try something else like it. I have had this fabric for such a long time and thought it was time to cut it up. . .  So I actually did the back first. I needed something for the back of that and thought I would use the rest of the fabric (almost) and create a wonky log cabin. I LOVE the way it looks. I'm going to hang it in my kitchen. It turns out that, that where I like the side I started with? I really like the log cabin better so that is the side I'm calling the front.

Jelly Role

OK, so I decided to try this jelly role top that I've heard about. I had purchased a jelly role online but only a half jelly roll, therefore I bought some grey fabric I thought might look nice with it and but it into the same amount of strips. It was very easy and the more I look at it the more I like it. Not exactly sure how I'm going to finish it, but I think it has a lot of potential.

I alternated print then grey and took them just as they were in the roll.

Happy New Year

I'm again hoping to post a little more regularly. I have several projects that I'm working on. Some I've been working on and some are new. I am going to try to finish up some of these projects.

Over the Christmas holiday I was cleaning my studio and found a paper quilt that my daughter made me while at day care back when she was about three years old. I just love it. I had it hung over my cutting table and was looking at it and it gave me an idea for a quick project. SO . . .
I did this wall hanging on New Year's Day.
